Cooper in Charleston, SC

Meet Cooper, shown here with his new family!...

Cooper is a laid back, sweet boy…. he is truly a gem. He will be 5 years old in December and has all the characteristics of the fabulous Cavalier breed; he's sweet, friendly with everyone, easy going and he wins hearts quickly. He has never met a stranger, gets along with other dogs and he does not bother the parrots at his foster home. We are unsure about cats.

Cooper enjoys being near his foster family. He follows them around the house and will quietly find a place to rest. He enjoys snuggling on the couch or he will settle on the floor where he can see them. Cooper loves affection and tummy rubs, he does not insist on being in their laps, but he won’t be far. At night he prefers to sleep on the bed with his 7 year old foster human. He enjoys snuggles for a short bit, then it's time to find a comfy place to sleep.

When he is excited or happy he does a cute spin with a bounce to it, with a smile on his face. He is just showing us he likes to play with toys.

Cooper is housebroken but does not like to spend time outside by himself. He will happily go outside to do his business then he is ready to come back inside. We keep an eye on him when coming and going out the front door as he has slipped out a few times.

Cooper loves to go outside on a leash and go for walks. He also loves to go for rides in the car. He hops in the backseat, quietly rides, and looks out the window.

When Cooper arrived at his foster home he was in need of medical treatment. His ears were badly infected and had been for a long time. He is mostly deaf and can only hear high pitched noises or loud clapping. Don’t let this detour you, he is a rare find! When his foster family claps to get his attention he always looks right away and he follows hand signals.

We are looking for a very specific forever home for Cooper. His ears will need monitoring and simple weekly maintenance probably for the rest of his life. His ears are very easy to tend too and he sits nicely while his foster Mom takes care of them. She will happily show his new family the care he will need.

Cooper is heart and eye cleared, had a dental cleaning and a few teeth removed. He has been given a clean bill of health and he is ready for a forever home. He will always need to be on a leash when not in a fenced yard, to keep him safe (but this is true of almost any Cavalier).

Cooper is a perfect foster boy and will make a wonderful companion and friend. He gives you everything you could want in a dog.

If you are interested in adopting this devoted Cavalier boy and you can give him a forever home, please complete the online application and write in the notes that you are interested in Cooper in Charleston, SC. Then, please call rescue team leader Cathy at (843) 557-0014. Strong preference will be given to families within two hours driving distance of Charleston.

Thank You!
