Nine Cavaliers in Texas

All have been adopted!

Our gratitude goes to all of you who generously donated to help with the vet bills for these dogs and to those of you who took them into your hearts and homes via fostering and adopting!

We have taken in 9 Cavaliers in Texas whose lives until now were really pitiful. They lived crowded tightly together in cages and squalor, but thankfully, the law stepped in and these dogs have been released to rescue.

The conditions on the property where these dogs were being kept were described as deplorable, and it's only through the kindness of a caring citizen that the plight of these dogs and many, many others was brought to the attention of the authorities.

This is an email from a volunteer who helped on the scene once the dogs were in the care of the Waco Humane Society...

"I am beyond exhausted. Today was an emotional journey with our precious breed. The 9 dogs taken into rescue are dear, emotionally neglected little spirits. I cried as I washed them knowing that the cold water was a comfort that they had never known..The Waco Humane Society did an awesome job protecting them..we had to deal with an emergency situation to prepare them for travel. I bought the best flea and tick shampoo available and worked with volunteers to do a surface clean. These beloved dogs were dirty beyond words but seemed to maintain a sweet nature...the gentle touch of unfamiliar hands brought calm to each of them and when wrapped in a warm towel to dry, they melted with appreciation. They are precious,,please consider only loving homes with alot of care..my life will be forever changed by what I experienced today..Barbara"

Due to the serious condition in which these dogs were found, we anticipate having to spend over $13,000 for their care.

All of these dogs needed spay/neuter, vaccines/testing, treatment of various conditions, and dental work. Four of the dogs are likely to need patella surgery, and one is being treated for heartworm disease. We believe all will recover well and go on to become healthy pets.

The dogs range in age between 2 and 6, and they are being fostered in the Fort Worth and Houston areas.

Some of these dogs are in the process of being adopted to families who have had applications on file with us and have been waiting for a dog. Others will be posted as they become available.
