The Hinkley & Brinkley Story
The world accordingly to Brinkley:
So many changes in such a short period of time, my head is still spinning. Hickley and I are about seven years old. I don’t know for sure because our first family did not give any information to the young couple that adopted us three years ago. At that time, we were still acting like young pups and teenagers and we didn’t pay attention to such details. Before we knew it, time passed and now we are adults.
Hickley and I are almost identical Blenheim male Cavaliers brothers. Our foster mom came up with a tricky way to ID us. Our collars: Brinkley blue and Hinkley red. Darn her, now we can’t play our silly tricks about who’s who.

To the best of my recollection the story goes like this:
Our original parents adopted us as pups and had us till we were about four. At this time, their busy lives did not allow them to spend quality time with us and this young couple adopted us. This couple had us for the last three years. But now that Hinkley and I are approaching middle age, we are requiring more personal care then they can afford to provide. They sat us down and explained that we are going another home where they will take good care of us and help find us new FOREVER homes. This was a kick in the gut and it took some time to digest this information. Hinkley and I talked about this at great length. After hours and days of talking, we concluded that we didn’t have much control over the situation and to go with the flow. Our promise to each other was to stick together and make it work.
Our new foster parents have been great. They have two other Cavaliers and we have become friends. We get to do new things that we never did before. All of us take long walks on the beach, go camping, and walks to the kiddy park and say hi to all the little kids that want to pet us. And……..dogs…… there are so many dogs around and our social circle has expanded tenfold. WOW……..

Now for the particulars on each of us:
Once we arrived at our foster parents they took us to the vet for checkups and here are the results...
Hinkley:
Like most Cavaliers, Hinkley has a heart murmur; it is a grade four out of six. He coughs sometimes and is on lasix (an inexpensive medication) but he's doing well on it. He is neutered and chipped with a new summer haircut. Our foster mom is trying to determine if Hinkley has some hearing loss or just a case of selective hearing. The jury is still out.
Brinkley (me):
I also have a heart murmur which is a grade three. No issues to date. I do have a cataract in one eye but it doesn’t stop my activities. I have a skin condition that has been somewhat bothersome. However, my foster mom changed our diet to a meat diet, no wheat. This seems to be working very well. So, I guess I am allergic to wheat. I am also neutered and chipped with a new summer haircut.
Both of us had issues with our dental care. After seven years, you would too. We have had our teeth cleaned and some extractions. We are all fixed up and ready to go...Now, with the kissable seal of approval. We are both house trained and we don’t bark much….only when we play with the dog next door through the wood fence. We both just love playing lap dogs on the couch. And bedtime, sleeping in the big bed with them all is the best. Hinkley and I would like to stay together, but we understand that there might be a chance that we will be separated. We hope a loving home will want us both though.
OH, one more thing before I finish. Cats and kids…When we first moved into our foster home a cat was part of the family dynamics. What is a cat? At first we chased Casandra around the house every time she would pass. But, we quickly learned that Cats have staff and Dogs have owners. We have learned well, that she runs the house. As for kids, we love them because they drop food. So, we just follow them around hoping and praying that food will come our way. When is their granddaughter coming again?
Please consider us to become part of your FOREVER family. I guarantee that you will never regret your decision.
We still have many years of love to give and share.
Well, that is our story and I am sticking to it.
