Here’s a picture of Angel with her new family…

If dogs are angels sent from heaven, then this pup is aptly named. Angel is an adorable 3-year-old Tricolored girl born 3/23/19. Through no fault of her own, this sweetheart found her way into rescue when her family could no longer adequately address her medical needs.

Upon intake, we discovered Angel was suffering from a contagious fungal disease along with several respiratory infections. She subsequently spent the next two months under a veterinary doctor’s care in isolation, boarding at a veterinary clinic. For the two months in clinic boarding, Angel was treated for an eye condition called Keratoconjunctivitis (KCS), a hypothyroid condition, bronchitis, a number of neglected viral skin and parasite maladies that were addressed with frequent medicated baths, medications, and isolation from other dogs. The entire staff made it their priority to interact with Angel throughout each day, as well as treat her various problems. When Angel was healthy enough to go to her foster home, the clinic team cheered her exit, knowing she was on the road to a new beginning.

Currently, Angel’s tear production is in the normal range, however, her history of KCS should be monitored. She continues a thyroid medication twice a day along with a cough suppressant supplement to help lessen coughing that may have been caused by her viral infections. Her morning cough is improving although she still coughs when overly excited. A daily probiotic helps boost and support her immune system. Her health concerns should continue to improve with regular monitoring of her medical needs. Angel is heart clear and has a beautiful thick, wavy coat. She is up to date on her vaccinations and is microchipped. She currently weighs 19 lbs. and her ideal weight is in the 17-18 lb. range, so Angel’s new family must be committed to regulating meals and treats along with maintaining a daily exercise regimen. She’s doing some summer swimming and each day happily goes a little further out and then paddles her way back to the steps.

Angel has seamlessly eased into life in her foster home shared with two fur siblings. She now gets to soak up the sunshine and fresh air with daily walks and lots of outdoor play. She is learning basic commands, walks well on a leash, and desperately wants to please.

Angel is unfamiliar going up and down stairs but is agile enough to manage them with practice. A ramp or pet stairs will help her navigate the couch to find an available lap. Angel rarely barks, her tail never stops wagging, and she has just started playing with toys. She and her Cavalier brother joyfully chase after toys and she even started zooming around the house and yard come early evening. At night, Angel goes in her x-pen, sleeping there until she eagerly greets everyone come dawn.

Angel is becoming reliable with her potty business as long as she is taken out immediately in the morning, throughout the day and then right before bed. Once she has become more consistent with her potty schedule, Angel would favor sleeping in the big bed with the rest of her pack. She loves joining in morning cuddle time after her early morning potty outing.

Angel eagerly greets all the dogs she has met, big and small, yet she would be equally happy as an only dog. She quickly attaches and seeks out human interaction. Angel is friendly to the neighborhood children, and she has not been cat tested. She rides well in the car and would love to be your copilot on any and all errands. When left home, she rests in her x-pen and will greet you with a wag and wiggle upon your return.

If you are seeking a Velcro companion, then Angel may be the girl for you. She truly lives up to her name and deserves to spend her days being pampered, showered with love, kindness, care and continuing oversight of her well-being.
