Angie in Buffalo Grove, IL

Meet Angie, a 6-year-old Black and Tan Cavalier! Angie was released from a large commercial breeding facility to Cavalier Rescue USA. Angie arrived at her foster home terrified of everything and everyone, and appeared to have never walked on grass and possibly the ground. To say that she has made progress is an understatement. Every day Angie is making progress, and is now an official cuddle bug.

Since coming to Cavalier Rescue USA, Angie has been spayed and has had much needed dental work, in which she lost a significant number of teeth. The teeth loss has had no impact on her ability to eat dry kibble. Angie is micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.

In regards to health, Angie has a grade 4 heart murmur and has been assessed via imaging by a cardiologist. The cardiologist has reason to believe that Angie’s heart condition may have been caused by the food she was eating, and may show signs of improvement with medication and by eating a kibble diet that includes grain in the recipe. Angie currently takes one heart medication (Pimobendan) twice per day. Angie will require her heart medication as well as 1-2 trips to the cardiologist yearly.

Angie is a very cautious, hard of hearing, and a sweetie pie who startles easily. She likes to potty in a fenced in yard, as she has shown no interest in walking on a leash. Angie will thrive in a home that is very slow placed and if there are children in the home, they would be gentle ones age 8 or older. A fenced in yard is a must!

Angie spends her days cuddled up next to her foster mom on the couch, and she likes having a kennel available to retreat to when the couch is no longer available for her. Her personality is starting to come out, with an example being her nightly dinnertime zoomies.

It may take a few weeks for her to warm up to you, but once she does, you are her person. If you are interested in Angie and can provide the forever home she needs, please complete the online application and then email Meg Hutson Eisenmenger at cavalierrescuemeg@gmail.com and let her know you are interested in Angie.
