Bailey in Apex, NC

Update 5-15-24: We think we have found a great home for this pup so aren’t taking more applications for now.

This adorable one eyed little lady, born March 2, 2022, is a love muffin. Bailey is a sweetheart that was surrendered to rescue by her breeder. She had a litter of puppies prior to coming into rescue and also suffered from an eye injury resulting in her left eye needing to be removed. She has adjusted to life with one eye and loves to play and go for walks!

She’s a typical Cavalier that loves to snuggle and be with her people. If you want to cuddle up and get hugs all day long, Bailey is the dog for you!

Since coming into rescue, Bailey has been spayed and treated for giardia. She’s healthy and ready for her forever home!

Bailey has done awesome with her three new Cavalier buddies, but sometimes get nervous when approached too quickly by one of them. Coming from a breeding environment, she was not potty trained at all when she came into rescue. She is doing really well and will go outside in her foster home’s fenced yard, but she does still have occasional accidents. Her new owners will need to be patient with her and help reinforce positive potty habits. She doesn’t like going out in the rain, like a lot of Cavaliers that don’t want to get their cute fuzzy feet wet!

Bailey really enjoys walks as she has just learned how to be on a leash, so her new owner will need to be committed to taking her for daily walks. She likes to snuggle in the big bed and on the sofa with her foster family. She does sometimes like to have her own time in the kennel or a protected space (she likes to go under the coffee table in her foster home).  She is a little timid and shy still, but that’s to be expected given her origins. With continued love and training, Bailey will keep gaining confidence and learn just how fun it is to be a dog!

Bailey needs to go to a home where someone is home most of the day. She would do well with one or two other like-sized dogs, but not with bigger or rambunctious young pups. A home with older, experienced respectful children would be okay. She has not been tested around cats.
