Bentley in St. Louis, MO

Update 6-5-24: We’ve received several promising applications for this pup so aren’t taking more for now. Thank you!

Bentley is a super friendly, energetic 4-year-old boy who greets everyone with a smiley face and wide eyes that say “Try and resist falling in love with me. You can’t.” That and his endearing happy snort will melt the heart.

Bentley will be 5-years-old on June 11th. He is pure joy and loves being close to his people. He will do best in an active home where someone is around most of the time or where he has a fellow four-legged companion to keep him company when the humans are away. He loves being petted and scratched, his fur foster sister, going on walks where he can sniff, greeting people and dogs on the street, car rides, and adventures!

Bentley came to Cavalier Rescue USA as a breeder release but seemed very familiar with a home environment. He was immediately outgoing and quick to make himself at home on the couch and bed.

Bentley has learned the sit and touch commands and is practicing stay. He is smart and treat-motivated, so with consistency and patience he will catch on. He will benefit from more leash training as he tends to pull and run to other dogs to say hello. Bentley is a sniffer and follows his nose so a physically fenced yard is needed if he will be off leash.

Bentley had a few expected accidents and marking as he adjusted in his foster home, but is reliably house trained and can go all night without a break. He is not crate trained.

When he came in to rescue, Bentley had a medical evaluation, neuter and umbilical hernia surgery, and his vaccines. He has a cataract in his left eye and a grade 1 heart murmur was detected. No medications are required for either condition at this time. Bentley was allergic to Carprofen, which was prescribed for inflammation following the neuter.

If you are right for Bentley, please submit an adoption application (if you haven’t already) and email Sarah Noebels at cavalierrescuesarah@gmail.com so she knows of your interest.
