Bodhi in Charlotte, NC

Here is Bodhi with his new family, right in time for Christmas festivities!

Meet Bodhi! He came to rescue after his owner became ill and could no longer care for him.  

Bodhi is an energetic 1.5-year-old Ruby Cavalier male who is playful, yet mild natured, loves to explore in the backyard, and loves to cuddle on or near his foster parents. Bodhi is very timid around new people and needs time to warm up to new surroundings, but once he starts to feel comfortable, he will show you all the lovable characteristics that Cavaliers have to offer. His confidence has been growing at a slow but steady pace at his foster home, and his foster parents have loved every new moment he opens up a little more and shows off his fun personality. He loves to play fetch with his stuffed animals and chew on safe chew bones.  He really lights up when he gets to play with other dogs – so much so that it is very clear that his forever family should have a young like sized playful canine playmate for Bodhi to spend countless hours playing with. Bodhi has also done great around children and seems to warm up to them faster than he warms up to new adults.  

Bodhi is mostly house trained, but might have an accident every now and then if he hasn’t had frequent potty breaks. After adjusting to his new foster home, he became a good eater, finishing all his meals when served. He enjoys going for walks and does well on a leash. He is a great sleeper and hopes that his new owners will let him sleep in the big bed with them. He loves to snuggle and get tummy rubs. He does great on car rides and sits or lays down in his car seat and never makes a peep! He is not the biggest fan of his crate but does just fine napping in it while his foster parents run a few errands. 

In recent weeks, Bodhi has been neutered, microchipped, treated for ear mites and an ear infection and tapeworms. He has completed his ear treatments and been given a completely clean bill of health.   

Bodhi needs an active family with a young or playful like-sized dog to entertain Bodhi, and a fenced backyard. His owners will need to continue to work on socializing Bodhi and helping him gain confidence. He’ll need daily leash walks and lots of snuggles. A family with someone at home most of the day is required, as he is not used to much alone time in his foster home and doesn’t like being left alone. As mentioned above, he did great when he was around kids, although he has not been around newborns, so a home with mature respectful dog savvy kids would be fine.  

To our knowledge he has never been around cats, so a home without cats is best.
