Chad in Chesterfield, MO

Here is Chad with his new family…

Chad is an energetic, outgoing 6-month-old tricolor Cavalier puppy born July 3rd of 2022. He is most happy being cuddled on his foster Mom’s lap, sleeping nuzzled up in the big bed or eating his meals (2 times a day) or snacks. He loves running and jumping after and with his Cavalier foster sisters. In total puppy fashion he is curious and loves naps snuggled up to a person or foster sister. He does not run after the cats. He actually has very good manners with the cats.

He is learning potty manners,”No”, and coming when called. His forever family should be committed to continued training basic commands and potty skills. Enrollment in a puppy class would be a good bonding experience. The home should be puppy proof as he will find anything on the floor or hanging low and chew or ingest if given the opportunity.

Safety is a primary concern. He should have a securely fitted safety vest for walks and to secure in a car seat. An elevated car seat is essential as he likes to take in all the action. Leash training is ongoing. The leash should be attached to Chad’s safety vest not collar as attaching the lease to his collar could cause neck injury. Chad needs a totally secure and physically fenced area when outside.

Chad should be supervised at all times. An enclosed puppy playpen area (foldable metal 2 ft high fencing) is used in the kitchen area for his safety when he can’t be directly supervised. A similar area is made for him outside for safety and monitoring potty skills. He only uses a crate to be fed. He knows the crate means mealtime. The door is then closed to keep the other dogs from stealing his food. At other times, the crate is left open for him to relax but he generally will choose to go on the playpen area for rest and sometimes a foster sister will join him! He loves comfy pup beds, blankets and toys!

He is eating puppy Fromm kibble with snacks that include: Fromm dry cheese treats, watermelon, banana, green beans and yogurt. He does not take any medication however has monthly Heartgard and flea/tick preventative. His veterinary visit confirmed an A+ for health. Clear joints, ears, teeth and no evidence of heart murmur are the hallmarks of his current health status. He is up to date on his shots and is micro chipped.

As part of Chad’s adoption contract, his forever family will be required and must agree to have him neutered at about 9 or 10 months. He is currently too young for that procedure. The adoption will be based on that agreement and not final until proof of the completed procedure is provided to Cavalier Rescue USA.

Chad has been around older children and both genders of adults. He is friendly to everyone. He will initiate interactions with a wagging tail! A loving family with patience, puppy knowledge, and willingness to open their hearts to a very special young pup will be rewarded with tons of love, adoration and entertainment!
