Charlie in Zion Crossroads, VA

Here is Charlie with his new family…

Charlie is excited because his birthday is coming up on April 19th and he would love to be in a new home before then! Charlie will be 3 years old! Charlie is an active boy who would love to play all day with you inside or out! He is a big lap dog and loves to lay his head on your shoulder or just sit with you in your chair or lay in bed with you.

He is not overweight but weighs in at 23 pounds. He is a tall tricolor with super soft fur! Charlie is fully housetrained and uses a doggie door to go outside when he needs to go. He has had no accidents in his foster home at all!

Charlie’s past family had little children and Charlie is just a little too rambunctious for little kids.  He needs to go to an adult home. Charlie bit the previous owner’s 10 year old while she came up on him while he was chewing on a rawhide bone. Charlie has food guarding and cannot be bothered by anyone or around other dogs while eating. While living with me and my multiple Cavaliers, Charlie has shown aggression while eating. Charlie loves other dogs, sleeps and plays with them, but cannot be in the same room eating with other dogs. Therefore, a home with no dogs would be ideal.

Charlie also likes to chase lights. Any light tends to catch his attention. He was so focused on the light at his previous owner’s home that he would ignore the 3-year old child and knock her over while focusing on getting the lights. This light chasing was not thought to be neurological but I would not encourage the use of laser lights as toys, which are not good for any dogs.

Charlie would benefit from consistent training and work with his food guarding. I believe this is something that he should be able to overcome with some work and love! I believe consistent training will help with Charlie’s energy focused on lights also. He is such a big love bug!

When food is coming or he knows a treat is coming, Charlie will jump in circles and just get so excited to get a treat! He doesn’t like to sleep in his kennel with the door closed. He either will sleep in bed with you or sleep in a room with his kennel open and a bed outside so he can choose where to sleep.
