Cleo in Nashville, TN

JUST ADOPTED!

Meet Cleo, an adorable tricolor Cavalier puppy born 12/5/24. At first introduction, Cleo is friendly but can be a bit timid and shy with people and needs time and space to get to know you at his pace. With a little patience and gentle praise he warms up and is glad to offer kisses, snuggles and ask for belly rubs! Once comfortable, Cleo is your typical puppy who spends his days playing with toys and napping on a rotating schedule. He’s great at entertaining himself with chew toys and loves to snuggle up near you or in his dog bed for naps. Even when warmed up, Cleo can still be a bit intimidated when being approached, so he would do best in a household without young children who do not understand space and boundaries.

Cleo loves his canine friends! He absolutely adores following his Cavapoo foster brother everywhere around the house and takes all of his cues from him. Having another calm, gentle and established dog in the household has made a huge impact in Cleo’s confidence, so we think he would do best joining a family with another dog to show him the reins, continue giving him confidence, and keep him company.

Cleo is crate-trained and finds his crate to be a safe space. He does express a little sadness sometimes when left in his crate if his person leaves the house, but is fairly quick to settle after a few minutes. Having a foster brother near has been a helpful comfort for him. His foster mom works from home so he is used to someone being home most of the time and would do best in a home where his people are not away for longer periods of time during the day. He sleeps comfortably in his crate at night as long as he’s in the same room as you. He’s also picking up on leash training wonderfully! He does not have a fenced in yard in his current foster home, so he’s adapted well to being taken out on a leash and for short walks and would do well in a home with or without a yard. Cleo is also a great travel companion and does well in the car.

As he’s still very young, Cleo is not yet potty trained so his adopter will need to be ready for the patience that comes with potty-training! He’s done well when kept on a consistent schedule, but accidents do still happen as he’s continuing to learn. Because of his age, he does still need at least 1-2 potty breaks in the middle of the night, but should adjust to holding it through the night like a champ as he continues to get older!

While in foster care, Cleo has been brought up to date on his vaccinations and other than an ear infection which he’s been treated for, has received a clean bill of health. He is microchipped and is not yet neutered. As a condition of adoption, his new family will need to have him neutered when he is 9-10 months old.

If you are looking for a gentle, loving, affectionate sweetheart, Cleo is your boy! Once he warms up and learns to trust you, he will be your loyal companion for a lifetime.
