Coconut in Whittier, CA

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is Coconut with her new family…

Meet Coconut, a beautiful Blenheim golden girl who came into rescue after her human person had a serious health problem and could no longer give Coconut what she needed. This senior sweetheart was born on 2/11/08. While she recently celebrated her birthday with treats and festivities in her foster home, you’d never know she just turned 15 years young!

Coconut, affectionately nicknamed Coco, is a larger Cavalier currently weighing 27 lbs. Her foster mom is helping Coconut lose a few pounds through daily exercise and diet management with low-calorie food and treats. Coconut is very mobile yet appreciates assistance getting on and off the couch and could easily master pet steps or a doggy ramp. This pretty girl has a soft wavy coat that will need regular grooming to maintain its luster and shine. Like a true princess, she really enjoys being brushed and pampered.

Coco is current on all vaccinations and microchipped. Besides being deaf, she is relatively healthy albeit a few medical issues commensurate with her age. A particularly positive finding during her recent vet exam is that Coconut does not have an audible heart murmur like most Cavaliers her age. Her heart is enlarged but more likely due to all the love she has to offer. Frequent UTI and ear infections have been cleared up while in foster care but should continue to be monitored.

An ideal family for Coconut is where someone is home most of the day and able to provide short walks with frequent potty breaks. This golden girl deserves to be showered with lots of love and attention for the remainder of her years. Due to all the recent changes in her world, Coconut can be initially shy when meeting new people. Once she feels secure, she then instantly becomes your tail wagging best friend.

Coconut currently shares her foster home with another senior Cavalier and they cohabitate nicely. Respectful children are fine as would be a calm canine companion. She has not been around cats. Coconut also wouldn’t mind becoming the center of your world and promises to return the affection tenfold.

Coconut is reliably housetrained in her foster home, but will need guidance to adjust to yet another new change in her routine. Frequent potty breaks, a soft cozy dog bed, a secure yard or patio and some fresh air and sunshine make Coconut happy. She rides well in the car and accompanying you on errands is not a problem. A dog stroller for longer outings would be a bonus. Coconut sleeps soundly through the night on a dog bed in her foster mom’s bedroom. A perfect evening for Coconut involves snuggles, couch time and relaxing while watching a favorite television show or movie.
