JUST ADOPTED!

Here is Cookie with her new family…

Meet Cookie! When the recipe calls for ¾ Cavalier, ¼ Cocker Spaniel and an extra cup of sugar, you get the sweetest Cookie ever! This beautiful 2 year old girl, born 12/14/21, found her way into rescue when her family experienced some personal challenges and made the difficult decision to help her find a new home.

An affectionate master cuddler, Cookie will lay her head on your chest and look up at you with her soulful eyes. She aims to please as long as she is by your side, 24/7. Cookie’s gorgeous wavy coat exudes glamour as she happily prances throughout the day. She is very content playing with her toys and has a delightful spirit, making an ideal work from home partner.

Cookie is gentle with young children and thoroughly enjoys spending time with her foster family in their yard. However, all doors and gates need to be carefully managed because Cookie will wander off if given the opportunity. She has separation anxiety and gets nervous when her foster mom is not in clear sight. Once Cookie realizes that her humans are close by, all is right in her world. Cookie gets along with other like-minded canines which can help with her overall anxiety.

While in rescue, Cookie was spayed, microchipped and brought up to date on vaccinations. Due to a prolapsed third eyelid, often referred to as ‘cherry eye’, Cookie underwent a surgical procedure to alleviate this condition. She was an outstanding patient and has fully recovered. Cookie is doing well with potty training as long as she is kept on a schedule of frequent breaks throughout the day. Being treat motivated has helped with reinforcing expected positive behaviors.

Did you say watch dog? Cookie is very alert and will bark when introduced to new friends or family members, including the Amazon delivery driver! Her bark is loud and can be startling but once you offer her a treat, she becomes your best friend. Cookie clearly favors females and is not yet comfortable with males. This may improve with time as she settles in with a new family and becomes a more confident, secure dog. Cookie has not had much experience being out in the world. She is getting used to leash walking but due to pulling, continued training is necessary.

The ideal recipe for Cookie’s new home would involve a family filled with overflowing measures of the patience and guidance this love bug deserves so she will feel treasured and cherished. The outcome will be a wonderful sidekick and best buddy.
