Dolly in Boston, MA
Update 2-18-24: We have several good applications for this girl, and are not accepting new applications for her at this time.
Dolly is a 5-year-old Tricolor Cavalier girl currently being fostered in Boston! Given to rescue by a Good Samaritan who got Dolly from a commercial breeder, this little princess is ready to explore all life has to offer in her forever home.
Dolly’s tail never stops wagging and she is very affectionate with her people. If you sit down, it won’t be long before Dolly is either in your lap or under your arm. She has a very calm nature and is very happy accompanying you anywhere you may go, or just cuddling up.
She very much enjoys getting outside every day for regular walks, either in the city, in the woods, or at the beach. Dolly’s confidence has continued to flourish in many different environments with the help of her Cavalier foster brother, who has taught her how to live a dog life. She has loved this support, and we very much recommend that she find a home with a confident canine companion of similar size.
Dolly is ready to live a full dog life, and has ample energy to engage in activities. She loves exploring new foods, especially through enrichment activities including licki-mats, kongs, snuffle boards, puzzles, and other food based games! Dolly also loves chasing birds, finding critters, and exploring all there is to sniff. She has responded enthusiastically to basic training, and has shown a propensity for commands including sit, stay, come, and crate. She is eager to learn more! She doesn’t make a peep in the car, and loves road trips to exciting local destinations.
She enjoys the safety of her crate and doesn’t complain when left alone for short periods. She jumps in her crate every night on her own for bed time (which earns her a bedtime cookie). Dolly has been very successful in her house training, and has had minimal accidents when given the opportunity for success. She is also able to walk and go to the bathroom on a leash without issue, and enjoys her morning and evening walks.
Recently, Dolly underwent a much needed dental, where she lost her remaining teeth, but her foster parents report she does not miss them one bit and seems so much happier now that she is no longer in pain. Due to her teeth condition, it is Dolly’s preference to not eat kibble, and her forever home should be committed to providing high quality canned food, or another human-grade soft food option. Since discovering her mouth, Dolly is very eager to add to her list of exciting foods, which currently includes: raspberries, cooked carrots, mozzarella and other soft cheeses, popcorn, yogurt, and peanut butter. She enjoys some soft chews as well to help maintain her gum health. She has luxating patellas but this doesn’t seem to bother her a bit. She is heart healthy.
She is the sweetest dog, and deserves an active home with regular walks, outdoor adventures, low alone time, and a canine companion.
