Drew in Loma Linda, CA

Meet Drew! True to his name, meaning “strong and manly,” Drew embodies a steady yet gentle confidence. This strikingly handsome 5-year-old tricolor Cavalier found his way into rescue after an unexpected life change made it difficult for his family to continue providing him with the care they knew he deserved.

Once in rescue, Drew quickly settled into his foster home, where he currently lives alongside several other Cavaliers. He coexists well with other dogs but tends to be more people oriented, often choosing human companionship over canine friendship. Since Drew does not always respect the boundaries of the resident feline, he would be best suited in a home without cats.

While in foster care, Drew received a complete physical examination. He was found to have a Grade 2 heart murmur that requires no treatment at this time but should be monitored during future routine veterinary visits. He is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and had a needle aspiration of a benign lipoma, which needs no further care. Drew currently weighs approximately 25 pounds, and the vet recommended an ideal weight closer to 22 pounds to support his long-term health.

Toys are truly Drew’s love language. He adores a good game of fetch and will even toss his toys into the air when no one is available to play with him. He would thrive in a home that enjoys interactive play and can dedicate time each day to keeping him mentally and physically engaged. Unlike some Cavaliers, Drew is not a voracious eater. He does enjoy his meals and treats, preferring to graze at his own relaxed pace.

Did someone say “walk”? Drew can barely contain his excitement when his harness and leash come out. He loves exploring the neighborhood, stopping to sniff every interesting scent along the way. Drew is happiest with daily walks, outdoor adventures, and families who enjoy being on the move. He would make a wonderful walking or hiking companion for the right adopter. Drew is also a perfect copilot, at ease riding in the car to whatever location awaits. A securely fenced yard is necessary for his safety, since he loves spending time lizard hunting and chasing hummingbirds.

Drew sleeps soundly through the night and has become proficient using a doggy door. He will do best with a family who can provide consistency and gentle guidance during the transition to his new environment, including reinforcing regular potty routines. Drew previously lived with several children and genuinely thrives on their attention, making him an excellent match for a family with respectful kids or a household where he can be included in daily life.
