Duchess in York, PA

JUST ADOPTED!

Here she is with her new family….

Duchess is as sweet of a Cavalier as as they come! A true little love bug, this 3 year old sweetie will melt your heart as soon as you meet her, and acts as though she has never met a stranger. Duchess is so easy to love and greets you with excitement and enthusiasm each time she sees you. Duchess can go from nonstop movement and playing with a toy to happily cuddled on someone’s lap in a matter of seconds. Her curiosity can make it hard to sit still when she has found something of interest to her, whether it is a moving leaf outside or some of her human or fur foster cousins on the go. Taking a picture where she isn’t moving is a feat!

Duchess came into rescue when her first owner could no longer care for her, and it is clear that she has been well loved for her entire life. When Duchess first came into foster, it was clear that she had not been outside much as her prior owner’s mobility became limited, as she was very hesitant and nervous about stepping on grass. With some time and reassurance, she is now happy to explore a on leash or in a fenced yard. Her coat is still growing out as she had to be shaved down pretty significantly when she first came into rescue. She is more than happy to give anyone she meets all of the love, care, and affection in the world.

Duchess loves to play, and it is the only time she can become a bit vocal and demanding. Her mini growl when playing with a toy can sound a bit fierce, but she mostly seems intent on making a great playmate for anyone around.

When she is on walks, Duchess is always searching and sniffing. She is very curious about the world around her and it would be recommended that she always be walked in a well fitted harness to keep her safe.

She has done well with kids who are part of her extended foster family, and she loves spending time with her Cavalier foster sisters and cousins. Duchess has also been cat tested and has been fine with them, showing interest but no intent to chase or engage.

At approximately 15 lbs, this pretty little tricolor is at a healthy weight. Duchess is not aggressive about food or meal time in anyway. She prefers dinner to breakfast, which she eats with some encouragement. She has been fully vet checked with no health conditions and had a dental while in foster as well. She is fully house trained.

Duchess will do well in a house where someone is home most of the time, and with a family who has time for daily exercise. She would likely do well with a fenced in yard to have time to explore.
