Gingerbelle in Provincetown, MA

Here is Gingerbelle with her new family, all ready to celebrate Christmas!

Introducing Gingerbelle! She is a ten-year-young, female Ruby Cavalier. She came to us after her loving owner of ten years passed away in early October. Her life as the only dog of an elderly woman was one of stability, love and constancy.

Her foster home has offered her the experience of seeing what life is like with two other eight-year-old Cavaliers and she has adapted beautifully to their companionship and pack-like living. Additionally, she has been quick to win the hearts of the two men who are also part of the pack!

Her gentle, happy, temperament is only equaled by her beauty and sweetness. She has met a few cats in the building, and many other humans, and wins them all over in a brief moment.

Her favorite thing to do is go outside and walk, sometimes trot, to sniff and explore. She loves to snuggle in bed, rides well in cars and is always ready for adventure, when she’s not lounging on the sofa!

Gingerbelle is not able to hear at all, but her deafness does not prevent her from being completely aware of what’s going on at all times. Also, she has slight vision perception issues which is treated with eye drops and can quickly figure out how to jump up on the couch, bed etc. Gingerbelle also came into foster care with Lyme disease and has been treated with medication. In 6 months, she should have a Lyme C 6 test repeated. She will need a dental cleaning, but it was recommended that it not be done until she has the Lyme C6 test repeated. She is now completely up to date with all her vaccines. Gingerbelle is a good eater, she has lost almost 2 pounds and weighs 19.4 lbs which seems to be good for her size. Finally, the great news is her heart is in excellent shape, which for a Cavalier of her age, is rare.

Gingerbelle is housebroken and does many small piddles outdoors.

Although she would do well with other dogs in the home, ideally she would probably be best in an “older” home and thrive being the only dog. She will require a fenced yard due to her deafness. Because she has only ever lived with adults, she will not be placed in a home with children.

There is no doubt that Gingerbelle will add greatly to the quality of life at her future new home, and will prove to be an outstanding, loving and devoted companion.
