Hannah in Stoughton, MA

JUST ADOPTED!
Introducing Hannah! the eight-year-old, 26 pound (ideal weight,) Blenheim girl. From what we know, Hannah came to rescue from a shelter where another rescue group took notice and sent her our way. She had clearly had several litters, and didn’t know what the inside of a house was like. She required house training, learning to walk on a leash, and how to use stairs. She was in a lot of pain from years of dental neglect. Once she recovered from her dental surgery she blossomed into an absolutely wonderful Cavalier.

You see, Hannah is special. She has a calm demeanor and is welcoming of any human or animal that comes across her path. Hannah never barks, in fact, we’ve only heard her bark 3 times since she has been in rescue. She is therapeutic in how she treats people. Walking in a park full of dogs and children, Hannah is calm and slow, letting the children pet her, hug her, and even kiss her on the head. She is a gentle soul. One of her foster humans was sick for 2 weeks and Hannah was by his side the whole time. When he would cough, Hannah would lick his arm letting him know she was there for him.

Hannah is comfortable in a crate. She sleeps through the night without issue. She will happily go into her crate to take a nap when the family has to step out for a few hours. Hannah is of course very willing to sleep on the couch, in a dog bed, or a human’s bed, for that matter. However, we find her crate is the best way to prevent any late night accidents, as she will wait for 8 hours overnight in her crate. What is interesting is that Hannah doesn’t mind where she sleeps. She is fine going back to her crate in the middle of the night if we ask her to. She has zero separation anxiety.

There must be something wrong with this dog, you say? Well, yes, Hannah’s dark side is that she is a masterful sock thief! She steals socks and hordes them in a secret spot. She doesn’t do anything with them, just takes them and puts them in her pile. In all seriousness, Hannah does enjoy chewing on tags so we ensure she has lots of toys around so she can pick up and chew on their tags. Hannah does require a leash when not fenced in. She is so excited to explore and meet other humans or animals, she will blindly run to them ignoring cars and dubious dogs. No exception to this. We’ve had several experiences where Hannah is clueless of the dangers around her and we have to keep her close.

Hannah is in excellent health, with no reported health concerns from her last checkup. Hannah is house trained, just ensure you keep an eye on her when she shows signs she needs to go out.

Hannah is a calm and relaxed companion that is excellent with children and other pets. If this is what you are searching for in a pet, then you may be the right fit for Hannah. She may not be a high energy ball chaser but she is mature, well mannered and incredibly loving.
