Here is Harley with his new mom…

Harley (7-year-old Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) is the Ethan Hawke of the house – a smart, expressive, easy-going hunk! He is your quintessential Cavalier: either playing, eating, or napping on your lap. Harley adjusts well and quickly to multiple dogs and small kids in the mix. He is low maintenance, confident, and calm, only barking when the dreaded trash man takes his family’s garbage away – how dare they?! He sleeps like a champ through the night in his own area, and knows how to come, sit, beg, and fetch! His favorite past times are playing fetch with his stuffed hedgehog and burying himself in a pile of warm laundry. 

Harley came from another rescue after he had lived in a home for over a year where he was loved but did not receive proper health updates or good nutrition. He gained 10 pounds in this placement and weighs 30 lbs. He lost a few teeth in his dental, but he still has a pretty smile and his chewing teeth. He also has a dry eye condition in his left eye that will require eye drops twice daily. Overall, he is very healthy and a very handsome dog. He had fleas previously and developed a bite allergy. His back end was shaved and he had a few hotspots, but that has been healed and his coat will be full and beautiful again.

He could probably do well as a single dog so long as he had a human around to snuggle with and play with frequently, as this breed requires and thrives on attention and affection. He also loves being around other dogs, kids, and people. He has not been exposed to to cats, but he has been around reactive dogs, and does exceptionally well. He does not react to another dog’s growl / display of foul mood – that kind of stuff doesn’t bother him in the least. He DOES prefer eating his own food by himself though – and does not like to share or when other dogs try to sniff his food – which really, who does?!

Harley loves activities, and jumps right into any action, always ready to play, so would do well in an active home. He is also great if you want to just sit down for a nice snuggle session. He simply LOVES life – whatever you want to do – he’s up for it! He walks great on leash and does not destroy his toys. In fact, he has not tried to chew on or destroy anything in the house at all – he is so well behaved. He is a one-of-a-kind, gentle, confident guy and will make an amazing companion to anyone who is ready to snuggle!
