Holly in Lewisburg, PA

Here is Holly with her new family…

Holly isn’t…..

Holly isn’t overly exuberant, loud, fussy, or particularly difficult in any way.

She isn’t excessively messy and is never destructive.

Holly will never scare off your Amazon delivery driver with her excessive barking.

She isn’t going to put up a fight if you wanted to dress her up or put her in a stroller for a walk.

Holly won’t jump on your guests, or pull you enthusiastically down the street.

She isn’t going to need a bunch of toys or chews to keep her satisfied and out of trouble.

Holly is never going to have high demands for exercise or activity.

She won’t demand anything much…

…because she never knew much in her first 4 years of life. Probably not so much as a kind word or a pat on the head. While she won’t be overly demanding of those, she’ll take them hungrily, like a love-starved Cavalier often will.

Holly has a pretty significant heart murmur with mitral valve prolapse and is on medication and supplements, which she easily takes in her food bowl daily or dipped in peanut butter. She’s been spayed, and has had a dental, and she’s in otherwise good shape physically. Holly is showing no symptoms of congestive heart failure at this time, but please understand that with a grade 5 out of 6 murmur, she will require medication and regular cardiac care throughout her life.

During her past 4 months in foster care, this beautiful Blenheim girl has recovered from much from the trauma that was her life in a breeding facility. She’s learned the dog door and how to “hold it” all night or until she’s put out. (If you ask Holly if she needs to go out – she’ll let you know). She’s found her way from the safety of the sunporch (with the easy-escape dog door) all the way to the bedroom and has twice snuck up on the bed to snuggle in quietly behind her female foster’s back in the early morning after the “man of the house” has left. She has learned to come to her name when called, and to walk politely on a leash. Loud noises can still spook her a little bit.

Holly has learned to trust humans, perhaps women a tad bit more than men, but she very much enjoys the company of quiet, calm, gentle men just fine. She wouldn’t mind some quiet, calm, older children too. Pretty much anyone who wants to give her some love. Holly will sit still endlessly for petting and affection.

She doesn’t mind other dogs or cats as long as they aren’t too overwhelming. She doesn’t get easily excited about much, and doesn’t give too much of her time to those that do, and she never minds a fellow snuggler cuddling up with her. The vet’s office staff adored her during her visits; she couldn’t have been a nicer patient. Everyone who has met Holly adores her gentle personality. Car rides with Holly have been easy and calm.

This is an exceptionally lovely girl with very few vices and too many fantastic qualities to mention!! She’s not a big girl – weighing in at about 18 lbs., but like most cavaliers – she loves meal time. Overfeeding Holly would be easy to do – so her adopters must be able and willing to keep her fit for the sake of her heart health.

It doesn’t seem fair that this young, pretty, gentle, affectionate, loving girl will have a shortened lifespan, but hopefully with continue medication and proper care, someone will get the pleasure of her company for a while to come. And it will be a pleasure to be in her company – she’s an easy girl to love.

Since Holly is used to be around other dogs, we are looking for a home with another calm dog for companionship.
