Lily in Houston, TX

Meet Lily, a dainty little Cavalier girl who is looking for a forever home. Lily was loved and well cared for by her previous owner, but sadly they can no longer keep her, due to their health issues. Lily finds herself in need of a retirement home where she can feel loved and pampered!

Lily has a sweet disposition and gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home. She is friendly with strangers and has been fine with the foster mom’s grandchildren who visit. She is very quiet and we’ve only heard her bark once when she was really excited!

Lily enjoys being held, but she’s not clingy. She’s a little more independent and doesn’t have to be the centre of attention at all times. She is good for her bath and enjoys being brushed. She needs assistance getting on or off the bed/sofa due to her size, and she patiently waits for you to pick her up. She will even turn around with her back to you so you can place one hand under her chest and pick her up more easily…all 9 lbs.!

If you’re snuggling in bed with Lily, she does the cutest little army crawl to make her way over to you. She thinks she’s pretty funny! We have come to find out that Lily is fearful of storms and she trembles when she hears thunder. That’s okay, we just hold her and she calms down.

We were able to obtain Lily’s vet records and she was examined by our vet. She is in good health, with a Grade II heart murmur diagnosed in 2012. She requires a daily pill which is put in her food bowl in the morning. Her hearing and vision are good, although she has some age appropriate blue cast to her lenses.

Lily is housetrained, but you’ll need to take her out multiple times each day and immediately after she eats. She goes out, does her business right away, and then she’s ready to come back inside. Good girl!
