Update: Lettie & Lyla

Update 7-23-17: Lettie and Lyla are now back in their foster home after undergoing the PDA procedure. While there were some complications, both dogs are now murmur free and recovering beautifully! We are so grateful to those of you who contributed and gave this pair the precious gift of life.

Update 7-14-17: The pups are both scheduled for heart surgery on July 21st. Our heartfelt thanks to those of you who donated towards their care!

Please help these sweet dogs if you can! These beautiful Cavaliers came to rescue purportedly as healthy dogs. A trip to the vet quickly corrected that assumption. Both dogs have a grade 4 out of 6 heart murmur, quite rare for a pair of young dogs. A visit to the cardiologist brought horrible news. Lettie and Lyla both have a heart defect, that if not corrected, will lead to their deaths.

Patent ductus arteriosus (also called PDA) is a birth defect in the heart. It can be corrected and the dogs can live a healthy life once this is done. They are both super sweet, precious Cavaliers and we want to give them this chance at life.

Lettie and Lyla love to be loved and they express their happiness with full body wags! They are truly a joy to foster.

Lyla is a lap dog who loves to keep you company while you watch tv or read. She's a bit of a talker when excited, which is real cute.

Lettie is a total sweetheart who loves to have attention and, along with her best bud Lyla, chase the birds in the yard.

If you can donate to give these dogs the gift of life, we'd be grateful. Their vet care is expected to cost about $4K for each dog (yes, you read that right, gulp!)
