Oliver in Schenectady, NY

We have received so many wonderful applications for Oliver that we have closed the application process. Please look at our other adoptable dogs!

With good manners and gentle soul Oliver is a wannabe rascal. He initiates play, especially with dogs his own size, then backs away.

We expect him to eventually go all in, but for now he's still a little shy. Even when both of his back legs were showing signs of deterioration he'd find a way to run and keep up with his buddies. Now he just loves to run!

Oliver came into rescue because his owner wasn't able to provide the extensive orthopedic surgery he needed. After researching her options and facing a future that could leave him disabled, his owner made the heartbreaking decision in his best interests. In rescue, Oliver was fostered by a volunteer who is a veterinarian who worked with a surgeon to repair his knees and change the course of his life.

Oliver is a polite, loving guy who belongs in a home with children, other dogs, even cats (but will chase them if they run.) He is very social and would enjoy plenty of exercise. He also likes soft, cozy spots and plenty of pampering. He's not a big eater, which is funny for a Cavalier. He prefers to eat at his own pace.
