Ivy Rose in Ypsilanti, MI

Are you ready for the sweetest Ruby girl to come into your home and heart? Do you have a quiet home with another Cavalier or Cavaliers? If yes, Ivy Rose may be the girl for you. This sweet 14-pound ruby treasure, born 11-18-2019, has just been retired from breeding and is learning to trust humans again. She follows her foster siblings around and is making friends with the cats in her foster home.

Ivy Rose was very nervous when she first joined her foster family, but in just a few short weeks she is coming out of her shell more and more every day. She is still leery of being picked up, but has started to sleep close to her foster mom. She even started doing what her foster mom calls the “happy dance” in mornings, rolling around and being silly when she wakes up.

She’s done great with her potty training and has not had any accidents inside. Ivy Rose quickly took to using a wee wee pad as well. She will sit by the door when she needs to go outside. She has mastered the doggie steps up to the people bed and loves to sleep there with her foster mom and foster Cavalier siblings. Her leash training is coming along nicely, but loud noises during walk time still startle her. We recommend a harness rather than a collar for leash walking.

She has been to a few Cavalier meetups and did very well with the all the new people and dogs. Ivy Rose would benefit from the company of another Cavalier or Cavaliers to help build up her confidence, as she is still learning to trust people. A quiet home without small children would be best as well as someone who is home most of the day. She is doing well on her leash training, but is used to a fenced in yard at her foster home.

During her initial vet visit, a grade 1-2 murmur was detected. Other than that, Ivy Rose is in very good health. Since coming into rescue, she has been spayed and received a dental. She received a summer hair cut before coming into rescue. Her coat is already starting to grow in nicely. She feels like velvet.
