Jackson in Columbus, OH
Update 1-29-23: We think we’ve identified a great home for this pup so aren’t taking more applications for now. Thank you!
Hi, my name is Jackson. I am a 2-year-old male, and I am as ornery as they come! I came into foster care because I was no longer needed as a breeding pup.
I am very energetic and I love to run and play with my foster bothers and once we get tired, I either curl up next to my foster mom on the couch for a relaxing cuddle session or I will cuddle up with my favorite toy – my purple lizard. I like to take all the toys in the room and make a pile close to where I am. I will steal toys from my foster brother too which sometimes lands me in trouble as they growl at me to leave them alone. Since I was a breeder pup, I did not learn how to behave in a pack, so I am a little bully sometimes and have not learned my boundaries. Luckily, my foster brothers are very patient with me.
I am crate trained and sleep in my crate at night. For the most part, I am potty trained when out of my crate, but I still occasionally have accidents. I never have an accident in my crate. The problem I have is that I am not good at telling my foster mom when I need to go out so she will sometime catch me “looking” and if she asks if I need to go potty, I will run to the back door. It also helps that I have foster brothers to help me and I will always follow them outside.
I love to run around the yard, and so it is required that I have a physically fenced in yard. If I bolt out the front door or outside the fence, I think it’s a fun game of chase and good luck catching me! I eventually come back to the door when called though. I do not like the leash hooked to my collar. When I do have one there, I do flips before I need picked up.
I am a typical “Velcro dog” and I will follow you everywhere well unless I am sneaking around looking to get into trouble. You also need to be careful when walking because I sometimes end up under your feet because I stay so close to you. I have almost made my foster mom fall because I do this.
I have a foster cat sister too. She is a grump and hisses at me when I try to play with her. I guess she does not like to be wrestled with and stomped on like my foster brother does. She thinks I am afraid of her, but I am not because she does not have claws to scratch my nose.
I have not been around any kids, but I can tell you that I am so rambunctious and love to jump, and like your face, and nip noses and ears that I would not be great around really small children. I also don’t like fast movements towards me. I am very shy and take a little bit of time to warm up to people.
When it is feeding time, if there are other dogs in the household, I need to be fed in my crate or be monitored. I am a dominant pup and I will steal everyone else’s meal then go eat mine.
Well, I hope you have enjoyed learning about me and just cannot wait to fill out an application and take me home! I look forward to meeting you soon!
My foster mom says having a person home during the day is mandatory as is someone experienced with fearful behavior and positive behavior correction and the ability and desire to help me become a happy and comfortable boy.
