Jenna in Cinnaminson, NJ

Jenna is a sweet, gentle and calm 6-year-old Blenheim girl who came into rescue after being retired as a breeding dog. Over the last few months while in foster care, she has become more comfortable and gained confidence, and will continue to blossom in her forever home with the right positive and gentle care. Jenna is a friendly dog, but reserved. She’s been fostered with another small, gentle dog and has had Cavalier playdates, and done great with all other dogs she meets. She also met a cat in a friend’s home and was fine with it.

While with her foster family, Jenna was spayed and had a complete dental. While she lost all of her teeth (hence the tongue out) she is still able to eat and enjoy her kibble. She isn’t particularly food motivated, but does enjoy peanut butter bones, though it takes her a while to eat them.

Jenna, who is 17 lbs., is up-to-date on all vaccines and monthly preventatives and is microchipped. She does have a grade 4 heart murmur, but the cardiologist said that she is asymptomatic and does not need any medication at this time. Her forever family will need to continue to monitor her heart condition moving forward. She does appear to be hearing impaired, and so will need someone who can work on hand signals and someone who will monitor when out, since she cannot hear any recall commands. A fenced yard is preferred, though she would be quite happy for someone to walk her on leash several times a day.

Jenna is docile and sweet and loves to have her ears scratched. She walks well on a leash and doesn’t pull and is housetrained as long as her new family watches for her signals. At bedtime, she will go into her crate to sleep, but would much prefer to sleep in the big bed with her humans. She doesn’t always like when her humans leave the house and can scratch, but will eventually settle in her crate.

Jenna would do best in an adult-only home with another young and gentle dog who could bring out her playfulness and help her with her confidence.
