Jerry in Bonita Springs, FL
Here is Jerry with his new mom…

Say hello to Jerry, a sweetheart, who has a new lease on life since coming into Rescue after spending his first 6 years of life in a sad confined breeding situation. Jerry, now 7 years old born 10/4/18, is a beautiful, 17.6 pound Blenheim male Cavalier who is learning to enjoy lots of love and attention and slowly but surely bringing out his true happy, tail wagging, love sponge self. Jerry is ready to be your forever loyal companion and is looking for a family to love and spoil him, something he has never had before.

Jerry didn’t spend time outdoors or on grass and has found out that smells in a fenced in backyard are really fun to explore! He likes to follow his foster siblings around but still isn’t sure about relieving himself out there and needs encouragement with lots of praise to remember he needs to “go” outside. Because Jerry spent lots of time in a crate, he can “hold” it for many hours. He has learned about walking on a leash but doesn’t want to go far. It will take some patience and practice, (and maybe a few treats!) before Jerry gains enough confidence in his new surroundings to go around the block. If you’ve got a golf cart though, Jerry is all in and loves the rides. He’s good in a car too.

Sleeping in a crate is just fine with Jerry as he’s fully crate trained and doesn’t mind it one bit. He’s quiet and hardly ever barks. Jerry is buddies with his foster siblings and learns by their example. He’s a good eater and chows down his food now that he’s no longer in pain. When he came into Rescue Jerry had lots of teeth decay and had more than 10 teeth extracted. Jerry is definitely food motivated and eager to learn new commands and good manners if given treats as a reward. His foster mom says he learns quickly and wants to please. He’s won her heart and she thinks he’s just a darling boy.

Check out Jerry’s great markings and beautiful face! Once his coat grows back, it will be lush and gorgeous. Jerry was severely matted and filthy so he went straight to the groomer to be bathed and shaved down once in our care. He also had double ear infections which were treated with antibiotics and he now has a clean bill of health after receiving all required vaccines, neuter, flea and heartworm preventatives and a micro chip, too. We found Jerry does have a heart murmur that doesn’t require any medication at this time but he will need to be rechecked by a cardiologist once a year.

The best forever home for sweet little Jerry would be a family home most of the time who is willing to work with him to overcome his fears and to help with potty training. He would also benefit greatly from having another small dog in the family who can be his furry pal. A fenced in backyard, patience and encouragement to build confidence will help Jerry to be the happy go lucky Cavalier he was meant to be. If you want to shower love and attention on this beautiful Blenheim boy he will give you much love and happiness in return, guaranteed!
