Leo in Alexandria, VA

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is Leo with his new family…

Meet Leo, a little Blenheim Cavalier with a lot of love to give. Leo and his brother were surrendered at two and a half years old by a family experiencing a life change. Leo was the more submissive of the two and was bullied by his brother, so CR-USA made the difficult decision to separate the two.

Leo has blossomed in his foster mom’s home with two female dogs to keep him company and teach him the ropes. Leo loves to be near his foster mom and curls up next to her whenever there is room. He is a champion snuggler and has a very sweet, trusting nature. He needs someone who will give him a lot of attention, particularly ear scratches! He gets along well with the two female Cavaliers but hasn’t been exposed to cats. He likes the neighbor’s 8-year-old child but hasn’t met smaller children yet. He is curious about squirrels and birds but hasn’t tried to chase them down. Leo is a quiet boy and is more snuggly than playful for his age.

Leo wasn’t trained or housebroken when he came to us but he’s learning quickly. He has been spending the night in a crate and it is his safe space. He wears a belly band indoors because he likes to mark his surroundings, but this will diminish after he is neutered prior to the adoption. He comes when he is called and we are working on learning other commands. Leo also wasn’t on a leash before he came to us, but walks are his new favorite thing. He’s picking up leash manners every day.

While in rescue Leo bravely faced his first visit to the vet. He got all his shots and a healthy report. His neuter with microchip appointment is scheduled for June. It will be helpful for his new family to bring him for his first dental and maintain his dental care.

He is a smart boy, and he has a lot of lost time to make up for. Won’t you be the family that teaches him about the finer things in life?

The ideal applicant for Leo will be someone who is patient with training and available to give him a lot of attention each day. Small older pup(s) in the home would be helpful as well for his companionship and training. Applicants with similar age pups will be intimidating and not a match for Leo.
