Lily and Cooper in Loma Linda, CA

Meet Lily and Cooper, an adorable duo of pint-sized sibling lap-lovers whose unwavering bond defines their every moment. Born on August 1, 2019, this inseparable pair found their way into rescue when their previous owner couldn’t provide the ongoing care they needed to thrive.

One advantage of adopting littermates is built-in companionship, and Lily and Cooper epitomize this, being 24/7 playmates, ensuring neither ever feels lonely. They offer each other steadfast emotional support, although their reliance on one another can sometimes lead to stress when separated.

During their time in foster care, they’ve been microchipped, and received dental care resulting in gleaming white teeth. Lily had several extractions and now has a newfound appetite, while Cooper’s remaining baby tooth isn’t causing any discomfort according to the vet. Both are heart clear and in good health. Lily weighs 10 pounds and Cooper weighs 12 pounds.

Cooper, although generally calm, becomes vocal when feeling anxious. He is the alpha of the pair, and although generally mellow, will express his opinions vocally with those around him. He recently started a regimen of Fluoxetine, a daily anti-anxiety medication, to manage his stress levels, requiring ongoing monitoring of his dosage for effectiveness. On occasion, Cooper tends to alleviate his anxiety by chewing through fabric leashes.

Lily begins more reserved but warms up quickly to affection and positive interactions. While she experiences anxiety, especially when apart from her brother, she doesn’t need medication to cope.

Their shared goal is simple: to snuggle together with their person for most of the day. They aren’t high-energy dogs and, having had limited exposure to the outside world previously, they’re more at ease lounging about in comfortable spots at home. Both are reliable with potty training, Lily waits patiently by the door to be let out, while Cooper is proficient with a doggy door. They both enjoy basking in the sunshine and snoozing cozily together in their large enclosed area, though they’d much prefer to join their family in bed at night. Lily and Cooper aren’t fans of neighborhood walks or outings, and car rides are particularly stressful, especially for Cooper, who can exhibit Houdini-like tendencies when crated.

The perfect family for this petite pair would be someone seeking double canine companionship, accepting them as they are and providing them with a secure, loving environment crucial to their well-being and success in their new home.
