Liza Jane in University City, MO
Update 9-5-24: We’ve received several promising applications for this pup so aren’t taking more for now. Thank you!
Hi!! I am Liza Jane. I spent the first 3 years as a breeder, but was released and now I love my life as a house dog. Mom named me after the song, and I am a” little” Liza Jane too. I can dance on my hind legs for attention, and love to curl up next to my foster mom or foster brother.
I can chase a ball, and love soft squeaky toys. When I first came to my new home I loved to go outside and explore, and chase rabbits and squirrels. I quickly learned from my foster brother and sister to go outside to potty. After I found the joys of snuggling on the couch, I just want to stay there, but mom makes me go out every 4 hours. I do enjoy going out, there are big dogs next door, and we talk to each other, and then there are squirrels to chase, and a bunny nest by the fence. I have gone out the front door when someone comes to visit, but always come back in when called.
I do go check on Mom when she is in the kitchen as sometimes things fall on the floor and I can snatch them up! Or in the bathroom and help her by taking her clothes out in the hall. I sleep all night in the crate, but once the door was not secure and I snuck into the big bed. That was great! I want to sleep there every night! We went on a road trip and I did get to sleep in the big bed with Mom and foster brother and sister. It is where I really belong. I know you will let me sleep with you. I don’t take up much room and will snuggle up to you and keep you warm!
I am Liza’s foster mom, and she is an exceptionally good girl. She came from a breeder release with no records, and we were told she was 3 years old. She needed a spay and dental, and has had all her shots. She has a healthy heart and knees. She weighs 14.8 lbs. She only had 2 accidents the first week. She is shy with new people, but warms up quickly.
I did babysit a puppy and she was not pleased to have a new dog in her life, especially one that took up so much of her person time. She growled and put him in his place when he wanted to roughhouse. She has not been introduced to cats.
She gets along with her low key foster siblings. They are older and set in their routine. If I sit down on the couch, she is right there beside me. She is fairly good on leash, and does well in the car. Liza will watch out the window and alert you to any critters she sees out there. Also, she watches TV. The first time she saw it come on and heard other people she watched intently for about30 minutes, then tried to find the people behind the TV! Now she only gets excited when she hears animals on the screen.
Liza Jane is crate trained but would love to snuggle with her person in the big bed. She did on a trip, and again the other night when I did not secure her crate. There was an extra dog snuggled up by me in the morning. She will eagerly go into the crate when offered a piece of chicken jerky!
