Marley in Andover, MA

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is Marley with his new family…

Who loves walks, hugs, kisses, cuddles and chasing his tail? Who chases but never catches, rabbits, birds and squirrels? Who eats like a champ, knows some basic commands and is a VERY sweet boy? Marley, that’s who!

Marley came to rescue because of littermate syndrome. He was bought with his brother, but as they grew older, they began to fiercely dislike each other. His owner felt it was unfair to both dogs to keep them together so they came to Cavalier Rescue USA.

Marley is an eleven-month-old, very handsome, black and tan male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  He is a bright, happy, affectionate, playful boy. He has a very sweet disposition and wants to please and be with his special person. Please note, if you sit, he will be in your lap kissing you!!

He loves to play fetch and play with his toys. He enjoys meeting new people, especially children. However, his exuberance indicates that he should be placed with older children versus younger ones because of his tendency to jump on the people he likes most! He is a puppy, which is synonymous with energy! He needs and loves his walks every day.

Marley has been neutered and is up-to-date on his immunizations and flea and tick preventatives. He is both house-trained and crate-trained. He is learning basic commands such as sit and stay. We will require Marley’s adopter to enroll him in basic obedience classes, with a focus on being non-reactive to other dogs, not jumping up on people and proper leash walking techniques. His foster is working on these things, but to ensure success we recommend continued training.

The ideal home for Marley would be with a family that has someone home during the day, someone who will walk him 3-4 times a day, no other dogs, and a fenced yard (for safety and running and chasing elusive birds and squirrels). Also, a family that will commit to continuing his training in basic manners and love him unconditionally the way he will love them. Older children are fine. He has not been tested around cats.

If you live in New England, meet the criteria specified to adopt Marley, and have submitted an online application, please contact Barbara Blanchette at blanchettebarbara06@gmail.com to tell her of your interest.
