Matilda in Gettysburg, PA
Matilda is a happy little four-to-five-year old girl with a tail that’s always wagging.

Matilda came to foster care from a commercial breeder in Lancaster County and was very scared, shy and underweight. Since she has been in foster care, she has blossomed into a beautiful girl that loves attention and loves to cuddle on the couch. It took some time, but she finally decided she likes belly rubs!

Matilda doesn’t like being alone and needs either her foster parents or siblings in sight . She sleeps in her crate, but would love to sleep with her family. When Matilda first arrived, she was in a crate next to her siblings, and would bark and cry all night. Foster Mom decided to connect two crates together so she and her siblings had more room and could be together. Since then she has been very happy!

Matilda is also a very good helper around the house. She will pick up dirty laundry and carry it into her crate and monitor it until it is ready to be washed. She’s especially fond of socks! (She doesn’t chew clothing, she just piles it up and lays on it. She’ll allow items to be taken away.) She occasionally has guarding issues with food and her clothing collection with her Foster Sisters, but it’s usually just a quick bark.

Matilda loves to go on walks, and is very good on a leash . She absolutely loves to go on car rides. She’s a little timid in crowds, but rides very well in a stroller.
Matilda developed pyometra (uterine infection) and needed to have emergency spay surgery. Fortunately, she recovered well from her procedure. She recently had a dental and lost fourteen teeth, but she is feeling so much better!

Matilda would do best in a home that has at least one other canine companion to help her with her shyness. Older kids are OK. A securely fenced yard is preferred. Her new family should be willing to work on her training, especially since she likes to run towards the front door. Matilda is doing well with housebreaking as long as she is taken out on a regular schedule. She doesn’t signal when she needs to go out.
