Mea in Ann Arbor, MI

Update 2-8-25: We’ve received several promising applications for this pup so aren’t taking more for now. Thank you!

This 9-month-old spunky black and tan female is a little fireball, full of energy and curiosity! Mea came into rescue when her family could no longer care for her due to medical issues in the family. She was well-loved and cared for in her previous home, and this shows through in her uninhibited trust of people and zest for life! Mea is very outgoing and eager to greet each new person and doggie she sees. She is a friendly and affectionate Cavalier, who will settle down for a rest on your lap after a romp session.

Mea enjoys walks, and while she does okay on a leash, she gets excited and pulls. We are continuing to work on her manners in several ways. She tends to jump up on people and shower them in kisses! Mea’s previous family did a wonderful job creating a solid foundation for potty training. She knows to go outside for potty, but will still have the occasional accident indoors.

Mea does a great job sleeping through the night in her crate, as long as it’s next to her foster mom’s bed. She also stays in the crate when her foster mom leaves the house for short periods of time (although her foster mom mostly works from home). Mea may let out a couple of cries in the first few minutes of being in her crate, but she quickly settles in. Because Mea loves to play and is an active little girl, it is important her new family is home during the day to keep the little energy bunny busy and to work on her good-canine manners and house training. Mea is a great travel companion and does well in the car. She has not shown signs of food aggression at mealtime, although there have been a couple of instances where she gets possessive over treats.

Mea loves whipping her toys around and chasing her Cavalier foster siblings in the backyard. While Mea is all about activity and play, she loves to snuggle as well. She likes to crawl into her Cavalier foster sister’s bed for a midday cuddle session, and she settles down to watch tv in the evening with her foster mom. Mea has so much love to give!

This little girl’s ideal fur-ever home is one where there is someone home most of the day to remind her to potty and take her for walks. She would do best with an active family that has another small, young dog to provide stimulation.

Mea received a clean bill of health from the vet and has been micro-chipped and spayed. She will be receiving her final puppy boosters later in February.

If you live within a 3 hour drive of the foster family and are interested in adding this little buddle of love and energy to your home, please complete the online application.
