Mika in Charlotte, NC

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is the pup with his new family…

Mika is a sweet, loving, and friendly black and tan male who was born October 30, 2014 and so is almost 8 years old. He was surrendered to rescue after both of his elderly owners passed away over the course of a year.

Mika is in good health, but gained a bit of weight in the year prior to coming into rescue. He’s been on a diet while in foster and is half-way back to his target weight of 19 lbs. Housebroken, neutered and crate-trained, Mika is up to date on his vaccines and has no sign of a heart murmur.

Mika is well- behaved and is friendly meeting people and other dogs. His face lights up when he sees his friends and often follows us around the house to keep us company. He is a gentle soul and always eager to please. Mika, does bark from time to time, especially when he sees large dogs on walks or on the television!

Mika has had some traditional training (e.g. he’s a very good loose leash walker) but can use some work to develop his other skills (i.e. sit, down, wait etc.). He enjoys taking walks around the neighborhood or going for car rides. As he’s lost weight, he appears to be increasingly playful and has begun to play fetch. He has a very playful spirit and these activities produce a big smile on his sweet face.

Mika showed some signs of nervousness when he first arrived at our house, but since then has shown no signs of separation anxiety. Like most Cavaliers, he enjoys meal-time, and shows his excitement when he’s fed. He usually rushes to his crate on command for meals and bedtime.

Mika would do best with a family that has someone home much of the time. Respectful, older children with dog experience in the house to play with him would be a plus. He does well with other dogs, and spent his foster time with three other Cavaliers enjoying their company.
