Morty in Woodland Hills, CA

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is the pup with his new family…

Everyone calls him Morty, the short nickname for Morton on formal credentials. He is a noble nine-year-old fellow who wants to be your best buddy, BFF, confidant, escort and loyal companion. His birthdate is 7/15/2015 and his wagging tail and loving eyes say he is still young-at-heart.

Morty was living a charmed life in his previous home, however, family medical issues compelled a difficult decision to entrust Morty to our care and to find him an ideal family for his golden years. Morty moved into his foster home and settled in quickly, as if he had been there forever.

Morty is mostly deaf, but he doesn’t know anything is amiss. He is learning hand signals for ‘Good Boy’ ‘Come’ and ‘Sit’. Deaf dogs tend to be expert at reading body language and cues better than most might think. Not being roused by noises ensures Morty sleeps soundly and rarely barks. He may give a little whine to communicate that he needs to be let out, or a soft bark if he thinks you should notice it’s feeding time, or if he spots the intruding gardener working outside.

What makes Morty happiest are the simple things in life; a treat, a walk to the park, a back scratch, belly rub, and outing in the car are the things that bring him joy. He is eager to start each morning with an outing to the backyard at dawn and will return to snooze until it is time to rise with the pack. He does a little dance with a twirl or two and twinkle in his eyes for the joy of breakfast. Food is his highly valued resource and diet management is key to keeping him healthy and fit. He is eager to go on leash walks, keep you company on errands and loves to curl up on the couch with the family for TV time. Morty is eager to meet new people and he is friendly with other dogs he meets on social outings.

Morty is current on all vaccinations and microchipped. He had a cardiology consultation recently and diagnosed with heart disease common to the breed. He was assessed at stage B2 by a cardiologist and started on a prescription medication to improve cardiac function.

Morty wants his golden years to include a loving human as a trusted and loyal attendant to provide him a home with relaxing and luxurious accommodations for daytime naps and a serene bed to be near his human at night (he prefers the foot of the bed but is also happy snoozing in a nearby dog bed). A secure backyard because he really enjoys exploring and sniffing around as that is what he is accustomed to, but he mostly likes to stay in the house with his humans. Morty’s potty reliability is impeccable. He will head over to the back door and give notice with a soft bark or whine when he wants to be let out.

Morty will be a faithful loving companion in a short time once you have gained his trust.
