Mr. Peabody in Belleville, IL

JUST ADOPTED!

Mr Peabody is my name and I’m looking for my Sherman.

I’m a curious, beautiful and smart 2 year old male Blenheim Cavalier. I love to explore and then curl up in my foster mom’s lap for kisses and affection. She calls me a velcro dog. I even miss her when she just goes to take a shower!  I am neutered, crate trained and mostly house trained. Occasionally I use my foster sister’s potty pad, but I can be trained away from that. I sit on command and am food motivated (which makes training easier). I’m learning to walk on a leash and I am catching on to “wait” and “go” at intersections

I weigh in at 24 lbs and am free of a heart murmur. I’m up to date on my shots, and take a heart pill every month as well as flea/tick prevention. My left eye gets irritated in the spring, but it is easily treated with eye drops which will come with me to my new home.

At 2 years of age, I still have some puppy in me. Zoomies tend to happen nightly but I wear down and go to sleep in my crate shortly thereafter. They say that zoomies are a sign of a happy, secure dog and it’s fun to watch how my humans react to my zoomies.

My favorite activities include watching horses and dogs on tv and looking out the windows. I enjoy playing tug with my foster siblings. Being brushed is great and I like to play ball in the house. I’m great with dogs my own size, and I have not met any cats just yet.  I love being outside. Squirrels and birds intrigue me. I need a fenced yard, at least 6’ high. I have jumped over the lower ones and sometimes dig under the fence. Someone needs to be outside with me at all times so I don’t get distracted by a new scent and try to follow it.

I have some resource guarding issues with my foster siblings, so I need to eat separately from any other dogs in the house. I would do well with an active family, or other dogs in the house. I can be an only dog but would need to be kept busy.

If you think this sweet, loving dog would fit well with your family, please complete our online application, if you have not already done so, and let the regional coordinate, Meg, know of your interest, cavalierrescuemeg@gmail.com
