Peaches in Beaverton, OR

JUST ADOPTED!

Meet Peaches, a mellow 5-year-old ruby Cavalier whose greatest joy is being with his person. With his sweet and gentle spirit, Peaches is a loyal companion who will win your heart the moment you meet him. And this sweetheart loves to give kisses!

Peaches is a larger Cavalier that came into rescue quite overweight. He has lost seven pounds since being in rescue and is happier and more active. He gets along great with his foster Cavalier brother but can be protective of food and treats. Peaches loves playing with toys; tug-of-war is a favorite, as is chasing the ball. He is housebroken and has had no accidents in his foster home. He is crate-trained and rides well in the car.

Peaches is fairly healthy with no heart murmur. His recent blood work was excellent, and he is up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. However, he has a few special medical needs. Peaches has a partially collapsed larynx, which causes some narrowing and can make breathing difficult and noisy, especially during sleep. It does not affect his ability to bark. He must stay in a cool environment, especially in hot weather. He will benefit most from continued weight loss.

Peaches also has emerging pigmentary keratitis, and keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS) or dry eye, in both eyes and is currently on over-the-counter eye drops twice a day. He will need to be retested for KCS in the future and may require prescription eye medication.

Peaches loves his time outside almost as much as eating! Due to his exercise intolerance, he must take short walks, always with a harness. He gets excited and barks when he sees dogs he does not know but is very friendly upon meeting them. A home with a securely fenced yard is needed, which will give him a safe space to sniff, explore, and bark at squirrels.

Peaches has lived with other dogs most of his life and happily shares his home. He could also thrive as an only dog, receiving all your love and attention. A home with low alone hours, plenty of love, and a fenced yard is best for Peaches. Older children (10+) also should be fine.

If you would like to meet Peaches and give him a forever home, please complete the online application (if you haven’t previously) and email Cynthia Kastner at cseakastner@gmail.com to let her know you’d like to be considered.
