Here is Phoebe with her new family…

Meet Phoebe! Lovely Phoebe is an 8-year-old Blenheim Cavalier (born October 27, 2017) who came into rescue when her senior owner could no longer manage her daily care. Though it was a big change for her, Phoebe quickly showed her resilient spirit. From the moment she arrived at her foster home which she shares with several other Cavaliers, she seamlessly adjusted, finding comfort in the company of her new canine companions and the rhythm of their daily life.

Phoebe is a classic Velcro Cavalier through and through. She doesn’t need to be in your lap, but she does want to be right by your side. Whether you’re working at your desk, cooking dinner, or reading on the couch, she’ll be nearby. She simply wants to be part of whatever you’re doing. 

This girl can accompany you anywhere. Phoebe rides like a true co-pilot in the car, sitting calmly. She’s well-behaved on outings, making her an easy travel companion. Once home, she’s completely housetrained and content to sleep soundly through the night near her humans.

When it comes to meals, Phoebe is independent, more of a grazer than a gulper and will nibble when the mood strikes. However, she’s always enthusiastic about treats! Her love of snacks helps reinforce good manners and routines in a positive way. While in her foster home, Phoebe has started a weight loss journey and needs continued oversite so she continues to lose and then maintain a healthy weight of about 24 lbs. She currently weighs 27 lbs.

While in rescue, Phoebe received a full health check and dental cleaning, during which several teeth were removed. She has fully healed and is now up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and best of all, heart healthy! Although her hearing is somewhat diminished, Phoebe responds to visual cues and recognizes hand signals with ease.

Phoebe does occasionally use her voice to get your attention or to remind you it’s time for a yard break, or simply to express a little excitement about life. She can be left alone for short periods without issue but may show mild separation anxiety if left for too long. Since she’s such a gentle soul, she’d do well in many environments such as an apartment, condo, or home with a small yard. She enjoys exploring grassy areas and taking short strolls, then curling up to rest once she’s had her fill of fresh air.

Phoebe would thrive either as part of a calm canine pack or as the center of attention in a one-dog household. She hasn’t been tested with cats or had direct interaction with small children, so a quieter home environment would suit her best.

All in all, Phoebe is an affectionate, easygoing, and loyal companion who simply wants to be close to her people and included in everyday life. She’ll make a loving addition to a household looking for a well-mannered, gentle senior who has plenty of personality to share.
