Reese in El Dorado, AR
Reese (3-year-old Chocolate and Tan Cavalier King Charles Spaniel born on 09/17/2022) is your textbook Cavalier — loves people, cuddling, playing, and being the ultimate Velcro dog! She adores everyone she meets, and it only takes about five seconds for her to stare at you with her gorgeous hazel eyes to convince you that she is your dream dog!

Her friendly face matches her sweet and gentle demeanor perfectly. Reese arrived at the rescue after being surrendered by a breeder as she had begun having seizures. She had undergone three years as a breeder dog, and she was very shy upon arrival. Thankfully, she is stable now, after having undergone a full veterinary workup, which included starting her on medication to control her seizures and performing a dental cleaning for her low-grade dental disease. She has had ongoing care ever since, as monitoring was needed while she adjusted to her seizure medication. After acclimating to her medication, Reese has completely come out of her shell and is thriving.

Reese has a playful and loving personality, while also being very easygoing. She loves playing fetch and chase with her foster siblings but is also content independently playing with a chew toy or a ball. When around her foster siblings, she prefers to be the one getting all the attention and will sprawl across your lap. She can become overwhelmed in environments with louder dogs or people, so we feel she would do best in a home with calm, smaller furry companions and preferably dog-savvy children.

While in her foster home, Reese has proven that leashed walks are not her thing, so a secure, fenced-in yard with plenty of room to explore is a must. She prefers to take her daytime naps with her humans, but she sleeps happily at night in her crate. Reese’s housetraining abilities are pretty reliable with regular outings, but she does slip up once in a while if she wakes up from a nap on the couch and isn’t taken outside to potty soon after.

Reese has overcome a lot during her three years of life, and she has proven that she thrives in an environment that will give her the patience and time to open up that she needs. She would continue to do well in a home where someone can be home with her most of the day, not only to socialize with her, but also to administer her seizure medication that is to be given three times a day. Consistency is Reese’s love language, and we know she will continue building confidence and thriving in a home that is willing to build a healthy routine that meets both her emotional and medical needs.
