Scooter in Greensboro, NC

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is the pup with his new family…

Scooter is a very sweet three-year-old Blenheim Cavalier mix who came into Cavalier Rescue USA from a local animal shelter. He was surrendered by his owner due to his skin issues, which the owner stated they were unable to care for.

Scooter is a happy, laidback guy who loves everyone; two legged and four legged. He gets so excited when someone comes to visit. He will dance around happily barking for you to love on him. If you want a shadow, he is your guy! He is housebroken if taken outside regularly, or will go in and out a doggie door if one is available. He loves to venture out into the fenced back yard to smell all of the wonderful scents scattered all over by his foster siblings, birds, squirrels and whatever else has the nerve to venture in. His tail never stops wagging! He loves to snuggle up against his foster Mom for some one-on-one loving, or will lay quietly next to his canine foster siblings for a good nap. He enjoys a good bath, and will lie still while you dry him with a dryer. This boy never complains about anything you do for him.

Scooter does sleep in a crate at night and will let you know when he needs to go out to potty. He would love to sleep in the big bed with his new humans, if allowed.

Scooter does need other dogs to be with when you leave the house. He did have some separation anxiety when he came into rescue, but his foster Mom leaves music on and leaves him with his foster fur siblings when she leaves to run errands. This has helped tremendously!

Scooter loves to play fetch and tug of war! He would play day and night if you let him. It is his favorite thing to do besides laying right next to his foster Mom.

Scooter really enjoys feeding time. He knows exactly where his food bowl goes and will dance around happily barking until you put his bowl down. He is a very fast eater so he is eating from a slow feeder bowl. He recently had a dental where he lost one tooth that was getting abscessed.

Per the owner’s surrendered form, Scooter is less than four years old. His foster Mom says he acts younger. When he arrived in foster care, his skin was in rough shape and he had lost a lot of fur. His foster Mom has worked hard with her veterinarian to get Scooter’s skin and fur healthy. Due to his skin allergies Scooter is on a one protein food that is fish based. He is on a daily prescription medication to keep him from chewing his skin. His skin has now cleared up completely. Scooter does still have a slight ear infection in his left ear that is still getting treated. The veterinarian believes it will be cleared up with the latest long-acting ear drops. He has also recently had a dental while in foster care.

Scooter walks well on a leash and he absolutely loves car rides. He has not been around children or cats since he has been in foster care, but his foster Mom believes he will do fine around them based on his personality and love of people.

Scooter is heartworm free and is on monthly heartworm prevention.

Because of Scooter’s separation anxiety, he needs to go to a home with another like-sized canine companion, with an owner that is home most of the day. He also needs a fenced yard so he can continue to run and explore the outdoors.
