Toby in Brentwood, CA

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is Toby with his new family…

Tiny Toby, just over eight pounds, makes up for his small size and the lack of an eye, with Mighty Mouse courage and feistiness.  He thinks he is a super hero and only lacks a cape and the ability to fly.

Toby is just over a year old and has had a rather chaotic puppyhood, but he has emerged from that background with such energetic joy and playfulness with love and trust for his special people.

He enjoys being with his humans and follows them everywhere.  His favorite resting place is squished up next to his person on the chair or sofa. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night, but would also love to snuggle with his people in the big bed.

Toby learns quickly and wants to please, but his best motivator is food!  He will scarf up whatever he can from the floor, but his people will have to be super careful with what he is allowed to eat. Right now he is only allowed prescription Purina Pro-Plan Gastro-Enteric dog food for meals and treats. He has a super-sensitive digestive system and his adoptive parents will need to work with their veterinarian to transition him to a better and healthier dog food.

Toby came to his foster home with no potty manners at all.  He is doing very well with pottying outside now as long his people make sure he gets out often and in time.

We understand that Toby was attacked by a big dog that damaged his eye. Toby is healing nicely from his neuter and his enucleation surgeries. His eye socket was cleaned up and the eyelid stitched shut. His foster mom thinks he should have a pirate eye patch, but when the hair grows back in, he will be as handsome as any two-eyed little prince.

Toby will do best as the only dog and with someone who is home much of the time. He loves car rides and is small enough to be completely portable.  He is shy  with new people and somewhat reactive to dogs that he doesn’t know, but quickly warms up when he gets to know everybody.
