Trek in Plymouth, MI
Here’s the pup with his new family…
Take a walk on the snuggly side! Meet Trek, a 2-year-old Blenheim male and willing travel companion. He came into rescue when his family could no longer give him the time and attention worthy of a Cavalier. While in foster care, Trek is enjoying the company of his foster brothers (all Cavaliers), playing fetch with balls, and getting on a regular schedule.
Trek likes going on walks outside and does well on a leash. He goes into the crate when his foster mom leaves the house and for mealtime. But he doesn’t enjoy being in the crate overnight—he’d be much happier sleeping in the people bed. During the day, Trek hangs out on the dog bed next to is foster mom who works from home, so he doesn’t have to go into the crate very often. He sleeps through the night (10 pm – 7 am) without needing any potty breaks.
We are still working on Trek’s house manners and basic training. To that end, he would do best in a fur-ever home with someone home during the day for consistency and help with potty training. He likes to explore outdoors and indoors. This means he can get into toy bins and closets. Despite his age, he is still chewing on things left lying around (slippers, clothing, etc.). Trek is a typical Velcro Cavalier, following his foster mom and fellow foster brothers around the house. In the evening, he wants to snuggle on the couch next to his foster family.
Trek would be fine as a single dog in the family, as he is loving as well as independent. He would also benefit from the company of another small dog who can show him the ropes. In his previous home, he spent time with cats and older children. Trek is a trusting sweetheart of a dog: independent, friendly, and snuggly!
He will need a fur-ever home with someone home during the day for potty breaks, short walks, and positive-reinforcement training. He will settle in best at a fur-ever home with a routine and moderate activity level.
Trek is up-to-date on his vaccinations, he has been micro-chipped, and neutered. The vet noted Trek has a tender right hip which x-ray indicate signs of slight shallowness. No surgery or treatment is recommended and the pup is otherwise in great shape.
