William in Urbana, IL

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is William with his new mom…

Meet William! Will is an almost 6-month-old tricolor Cavalier born on December 3, 2025. This handsome little boy weighs about 8 pounds and has the sweetest, most loving personality. He absolutely lights up when he gets attention from his people and loves nothing more than snuggling close.

Will’s story is a special one. After his breeder detected a heart murmur, he was given to Cavalier Rescue USA so he could receive the medical care he needed. Will was diagnosed with Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), a congenital heart condition, and underwent life-saving corrective surgery in April. After 30 days of rest and recovery, he is now healthy, thriving, and full of happy puppy energy! Even better, his heart murmur is gone.

Will is not only resilient, but incredibly adorable. He has beautiful markings, an extremely photogenic face, and an adorable little white spot on his backside that makes him extra unique.

Like most puppies, Will is curious, playful, and still learning boundaries. He enjoys exploring outdoors, walks nicely on a leash, and loves toys, treats, and spending time with his people. He has already learned to sit for treats and is continuing to learn new commands. Will is reliably house trained with continued consistency and positive reinforcement, and he is also crate trained and sleeps great overnight although he would happily snuggle up with his humans instead!

Will gets along well with other dogs and wants to be close to his foster family at all times. He can be a little vocal when excited, especially when greeting his people or getting a new toy or treat. Because he is still a young, energetic puppy, Will would do best in a home with a secure physically fenced yard where he can safely explore and burn off some puppy energy.

Will is currently too young to be neutered, so his forever family is required and must agree to have him neutered around 9–10 months of age. He also has a cryptorchid right testicle, while the left testicle is fully descended.

He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm/flea/tick prevention, and has been successfully treated for parasites called Giardia and Coccidia. Will should also have a follow-up appointment with a cardiologist in approximately 5–8 months for a repeat echocardiogram to monitor his heart size and function and ensure there is no residual blood flow. Thankfully, the echocardiogram performed the day after surgery showed no residual blood flow, which was wonderful news.

If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate puppy who is ready for adventures, cuddles, and a lifetime of companionship, William may be your perfect match.
