Willow in Nashville, TN

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is Willow with her new family…

Willow “Grendel Beans” is just about the perfect dog. She is an 8-month-old tricolor Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who is up to date on shots, spayed, and microchipped. She sleeps perfectly in her crate and is almost completely potty trained. She absolutely loves to go for walks but needs some leash training as she’s kind of like walking a bunny rabbit. Willow is excellent in the car.

True to her Cavalier nature she loves to be around people. Willow Beans is not the dog for a family who is always on the go and never home, she would be distraught if left all by herself. Someone needs to be home with her for most of the day. Gentle or older kids would be a perfect companion for her. She is excellent around other dogs and loves to play (so long as they aren’t too rough).

Willow is great at matching your energy, want to go for a walk? Let’s go! Not feeling well and want to chill? An extended nap sounds good! Her couch snuggling skills are next level, we call her the natural stress reliever. Whatever you’re doing she wants to do it too. She knows where the basket of toys is located, and while not good at putting them away, she understands what she can and cannot chew (most of the time).

She is very smart and has quickly learned the routine and started to sit for her treats like her foster sister and two brothers. This is difficult as she’s an excited puppy who really likes treats! Also, don’t leave her on the other side of a closed door because she will scratch and whine to let you know you’ve forgotten her. But most of the time she is following so closely behind you that she is bouncing off your heels so that hardly ever happens. She is part mountain goat so we are working on what “off” means. Unfortunately, it is sometimes not possible to sit on a lap (although she doesn’t understand why). We are working on stay so she doesn’t slip outdoors when we open the front door. She has been introduced to the basic commands: sit, off, down, drop it, and stay. She is a smart girl and will master these with consistent training.

While she is an easy dog, like any pup, she will need regular visits to the vet, and she will need to be brushed and nails trimmed. Her teeth should be brushed regularly as Cavaliers can have dental problems. Also keep her ears and face clean.
