Zoey and Shelby in San Antonio, TX

JUST ADOPTED!

Here are Zoey and Shelby with their new family…

Meet Zoey & Shelby — The Golden Girls of Cavaliers!

Double the love, double the snuggles, that’s what you get with Zoey and Shelby. Born on 06/05/2015 these Cavalier King Charles Spaniel sisters are looking for their forever home together. Shelby and Zoey are some of the best-behaved girls their foster mom has met.

Zoey (the Blenheim beauty) is the social butterfly of the duo; she is still reserved but is definitely the more outgoing of the two. She is always ready for attention and loves to follow her foster mom room to room. Zoey is affectionate, funny, and loves being where the action is – whether that’s a walk, a treat, or a good TV marathon.

Shelby (the tricolor sweetheart) is the gentle soul. She is a little shy at first and is also deaf, but she knows basic hand signals. Shelby depends on Zoey and her foster sisters for direction, and Zoey is happy to play the role of protective big sister.

These two ladies have perfected the art of leisurely living – Zoey likes to lie on the couch and maybe the big bed for a minute, Shelby does not get any furniture and prefers a nice dog bed to sleep on. Their favorite pastime is napping, and they both love car rides, they get along great with their foster dog and cat siblings. They both love to be in any room their human is in.

They’ve been together their whole lives and can’t imagine it any other way, so they must be adopted as a pair.

Zoey and Shelby have both had some health challenges. Both of them were diagnosed with Chagas disease for which they will need to be on medication another 10 months and then will need to have a follow up Chagas test. Their current vet is more than happy to see them or coordinate with the vet of your choosing and their foster mom’s own dog had this two years ago and she can explain how easy the treatment is. Both girls had dentals, and Zoey had 50% of her teeth removed and Shelby had 75% but that doesn’t slow them down from any treats or food. Both girls could use a little weight loss since being in foster care they have each lost 2 lbs., and their ideal weight is about 25lbs.

Zoey had 31 bladder stones removed, yikes, but she is perfectly fine now. Her bladder stones all started with an untreated UTI so she will need to have a urinalysis done twice a year to make sure this never happens again, but she doesn’t need to be on any special food.

Shelby has a grade 4 heart murmur and is on 2.5mg vetmedin twice a day and she will need to be on this for the rest of her life. It is very important she gets her heart checked annually.

If you’ve been dreaming of two seasoned sweethearts to fill your home with warmth, love, and laughter, Zoey and Shelby are your girls. They’re house-trained, easygoing, and full of heart — everything you’d want in your very own Golden Girls.
