Trixie in Nashville, TN

Update 4-24-25: We think we may have a new home for this pup so aren’t taking more applications for now. Thank you!

Trixie is a sweet 2-year-old tricolor Cavalier girl, born 5-21-2023. She is a ‘tail’ of two dogs. She wakes up early ready to go! She hops around, licks your face, plays and rough-houses. After breakfast and as the day goes on, the more quiet and calm she gets. She has a favorite place on the couch where she can keep an eye on everyone. If all the dogs go outside, she’ll follow and hang out with them. She acts like she wants to be where everyone is. She’ll hang out on the couch if we’re watching tv or taking a nap!
Trixie came from a commercial breeder. While she has come far, she will need someone who is patient and willing to work with her to help her overcome her fears. She truly deserves to be loved and pampered.

Trixie would do best in a home with a well adjusted, small dog to help her learn the ropes and become more confident. She will also need a very secure, fenced-in yard. Once she is comfortable, the loves to romp and play with her pack.

Trixie rides well in the car but has not yet learned to walk on a leash. She is slowly working on that and her new owner will need to continue leash training. Trixie is potty trained and knows how to use a doggie door. She loves being outdoors and exploring. She prances around the yard rain or shine!

Trixie was spayed while in rescue and brought up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped. Trixie presented with a grade 2-3 heart murmur. Yearly echos are needed to assess progression.

She’s come such a long way from the pup that was terrified to walk through the door. Now, she’s waiting at the gate with the other dogs when we get home, smiling and wagging her tail, happy to see us. I don’t think she’ll ever be a velcro dog, but with love and patience, she can be a sweet, fun and loyal addition to a family.

If you feel Trixie would be a great fit for your family, please complete our online application if you haven’t already and then email Liz Nigh at lizcavalierusa@gmail.com to express your interest.
