Trixie in Citrus Heights, CA

Meet Trixie, a sweet, petite, 1 year old, tricolor female Cavalier born 02/23/2024. She came into rescue as a breeder surrender and was extremely fearful at first. Trixie has blossomed and gained confidence in her foster home that has several young Cavalier playmates. She is active, healthy and has recently been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped.

Trixie is housebroken and has been reliable but in a new home may need to be taken out to potty every couple hours until she becomes familiar with her new household. Trixie has wonderful puppy energy and enjoys chasing doggie bubbles, playing fetch with a ball or stuffed toy. She has learned to entertain herself swatting balls, tossing toys, chasing and retrieving she will repeat until she tires out. See Trixie playing with bubbles… Trixie!

Trixie is dog friendly, she especially finds comfort and companionship in other dogs. She feels secure while napping and snuggling with other dogs. A home that has another playful dog that Trixie could bond with is required to be considered for Trixie. She has not been cat tested. See Trixie in action with her buddies… Trixie

Trixie has developed confidence but still has a tendency to be shy and timid with unfamiliar people. Once she warms up to you she is very sweet and enjoys affection on her level while you are seated or laying down. She still is uncomfortable when approached to be picked up or carried. A home that is thoughtful and considerate of Trixie’s needs allowing her time to adjust and trust would be beneficial. 

As with most young pups Trixie has a tendency to chew inappropriately especially when left alone. Gentle redirection and offering appropriate dog chews will help to lessen the desire for destructive chewing. Basic commands are new to Trixie but she is very smart, observant and learns quickly. She would benefit from basic training & more socialization. 

Trixie’s requirements in her forever home are:

1. Another playful canine companion.
2. A fenced backyard
3. An active adult family or one with older respectful children
4. A family that is retired or works from home so she’s not left alone
5. Live within a reasonable driving distance
