Hopalong in Longmont, CO

Howdy Partner! My name is Hopalong but my friends – and everyone is my friend – call me Hoppy. My foster mom calls me Happy Hoppy because the gosh darn truth is that I am the sweetest, happiest little doggone doggy you ever hope to meet! YEEHAW!!! Coming from a home where my person could no longer care for me, I was extra excited to discover that there was a great foster home waiting just for me while I wait to find my forever home. I’m happy to share with you some of the highlights of what it’s like to be me!

I am a very handsome, yet modest, Blenheim colored gentleman doggy. I give polite kisses and I look forward to celebrating my seventh birthday in August at my new forever home. The one thing that makes me absolutely unique is that I have 3.2 legs – hence the name Hopalong! My tiny front leg has been with me since birth. Since I have never known what it would have been like to have 4 legs, I simply get on with life – and life is great! I can hop run, hop jump and keep up with the best! I am able to hop jump up on the couch to keep you company. I can hop jump up on the bed to take a nap. Most of the time I can hop jump down by myself but occasionally a little help is as nice as a cold peach on a hot August day! You can see how I get around at https://youtu.be/2Kr8L53eLoY

My favorite activity is to go for short walks. I love being out and about meeting new people and making new friends. YEE HAW!!! I think belly scratches are wonderful! I enjoy a good afternoon nap. I love cuddling, cuddling and cuddling – exactly in that order! Riding in the car is so easy – I settle down and am so quiet that my foster mom sometimes wonders if she has forgotten to put me in the car! I am happiest when I am near my person. I will curl up in a bed next to your computer while you work. I will cuddle next to you on the couch while watching a movie. I will snuggle, cuddle with you when we take an afternoon nap.

Because I am, well, such a happy guy, I immediately joined in the fun of getting to know my new foster family. My foster family introduced me right away to interesting yet unpredictable creatures – my foster mom calls them cats. I LIKE them! Occasionally, they will actually notice me and when they do, that for darn sure does get my tail to a wagg ‘in! My other two foster siblings look amazingly just like me. Together we make quite the pack of friendly, happy Cavaliers. Togetherness with siblings is fun, but I could also be just as fine as pudd’in being your only dog – more attention for me, right!?

I love to eat so much that I weighed 31 pounds coming in to foster care. I have been put on a diet to start getting down to a healthier weight. I have lost 1.5 pounds and actually do feel better! After breakfast we go for a walk. I get very excited when my harness is being put on because I know we are headed out to have an adventure. YEE HAW!!! Once outside I calm down and have pretty darn good leash manners. Most of the day is spent hanging out with my foster family. I enjoy chasing squirrels with my foster siblings or just chilling out. I do love a good nap – sometimes that nap includes some good old Cavalier snoring! Then it’s SUPPER TIME! After supper we go for another walk which is hippity hop fun! Bed time is snuggle and cuddle time. I won’t leave your side all night – you will be my world!

While living the good life in my foster home, I had a complete wellness checkup. I am now current on all of my vaccinations, tested negative for heartworms, was microchipped and had a dental cleaning that included having eight teeth extracted. The best news though is that the vet heard no heart murmur! YEE HAW!!! I am a very heathy, happy guy!

I am looking for a forever home that will have my person home most of the time. I get along great with friendly, small dogs, cats, older kids and neighbors. I will come and tell you when I need to go out to go potty but prefer if you remember to let me several times during the day. I sleep all through the night without needing to go out. I have some hearing loss. I can hear a bit, but mostly use visual cues to know what you would like me to do. I am a very easy dog to have around. I will quickly become comfortable in my forever new home.
