Brook in Kenmore, WA

Brook is a 12-year-old female Blenheim Cavalier. She’s a super sweet girl that is easy to care for and love. Unfortunately, she suffered a lot of neglect and mistreatment in her previous home, and she was also a breeder dog most of her life. She came to us a little shy but has opened up quite a bit. Her true Cavalier temperament has been coming out now that she’s feeling better and loved in her foster home. She really enjoys belly rubs and gentle head scratches and has even started joining her foster mom on the couch.

Brook is mostly house trained, but she should be kenneled if you are gone too long or taken out right before leaving. She doesn’t need much space but prefers to potty on her own in a fenced yard. She likes short walks, if you help her get started, and being outside exploring her yard.

While in her foster home, Brook had a much-needed dental for severe periodontal disease and was spayed. She’s looking much better after putting on a few pounds and her hair is starting to grow back too. She’s a little Cavalier, weighing 14 lbs, and that seems to be a good weight for her.  She has a grade 2 heart murmur but does not need medication at this time. She also has dry eye for which she takes prescription eye drops called cyclosporin.

Brook would love a quiet home where she can rest and relax in the sun with someone who will help her feel safe and loved for the rest of her days. No young children, though older, respectful, dog-savvy kids would be okay. Brook would be fine as an only dog or with another dog of similar size and temperament. Her ideal new home is a calm household with a family that’s easy-going, compassionate, and loving.

Brook is currently being fostered with another female Cavalier from the same home. While the girls are not particularly bonded (don’t snuggle, follow each other around, etc.), they could be placed together should a family like to adopt them both. Please see CJ’s posting to learn more about her: CJ in Kenmore, WA
