Harriet in Burien, WA
Meet Harriet – Our Sweet & Sassy Senior Lady!
Harriet is a 9-year-old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a gentle soul and a quietly confident charm. Her coat was clipped very short just before she came into rescue, but her soft ears and beautiful feathering are starting to grow back in nicely—just like her sense of comfort and security.
She’s settling in wonderfully with her foster family and continues to impress us with her steady, adaptable nature. She’s eating, sleeping, and pottying like a pro (A+ across the board!). While she can be a little cautious at first, once she feels safe, she opens up and shows her affectionate, playful side.
Before coming into rescue, Harriet wasn’t fed regularly—if at all—which has made mealtime an exciting event for her. Now, she eats with gusto! She’s fed separately from the other dogs so no one has to share against their will, and her foster family stays nearby while she eats, which she finds reassuring. She gets especially excited for treats and can be a little grabby when taking them, but her foster family is working with her on this and believes she’ll become more patient and gentle as she learns that she’ll never miss another meal.
She’s not a fan of stairs (her foster family carries her when needed), but she will easily jump up onto a couch or an available lap. Harriet loves attention, belly rubs, and cozy naps—all of which are now part of her daily routine, and frankly, non-negotiable.
While she’s mellow and easygoing, Harriet also has a playful streak. She loves her walks, chases toys, and will challenge other pups for a favorite ball. She’s a confident female—not shy about setting boundaries with other dogs—but she’s never aggressive. She enjoys gentle children and gladly accepts pets from friendly strangers during outings.
Harriet is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She had a dental while in rescue to treat severe dental disease, and now she eats softened food since she only has a few teeth left. She takes daily medication for mitral valve disease (common in Cavaliers), but she currently shows no symptoms and has plenty of pep. She also has a cataract in one eye, but this doesn’t seem to bother her.
If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who’s been through a tough chapter but still greets life with joy and trust, Harriet may be the perfect fit. She’s ready for her forever home, the one where mealtimes are guaranteed, love is endless, and the snuggles are mutual.
